This absolutely beautiful 1911 Island Class yawl designed by Alfred Mylne and built in 1911 by Hilditch in Carrickfergus, N Ireland has just come on to the market and is available for purchase through Nicolle Associates.
A classic in the very truest sense of the word with a proven race record on the classic regatta circuit, winning her class at the 09 Plymouth Classics. In regular commission, participated in many regattas UK and France.
She is one of only 6 built of which 4 are known, one wrecked in Ireland and one untraced.
Her classic lines of the period at a time when Alfred Mylne was one of the most respected yacht designers in the world and with her Bermudian yawl rig, sloop headed on varnished masts and spars she is a real head turner.
The Island Class was originally built with a sloop-headed gaff yawl rig setting a high peaked gaff mainsail on a pole main mast, topsail on yard and club, gunter-rigged mizzen and jib to the end of the bowsprit
She has been in her present ownership since 1979, had a major refit in 1989 when the deck was replaced and other work.
