1972 Fairey Huntsman 31 Aft Cabin, Twin Screw Sports Cruiser for sale
This third owner, 1972 (refitted 2012) Fairey Huntsman 31 represents a unique opportunity for a new owner with a passion for these boats to take advantage of a recent extensive refit at a price that reflects the owners unfortunate change of circumstances and a need for some basic cosmetic and mechanical work to get her back in to original condition.
This is the last Fairey Huntsman 31 Aft Cabin built by Fairey, she had her hull strengthened from their racing experience so she is very strong.
Powered by twin Ford Mermaid engines (new 1992) with comfortable accommodation for four with galley and heads with shower.
This Fairey Huntsman 31 Aft Cabin “Brig-Y-Don” was purchased by her current owner in late 2011 (survey available although almost irrelevant) and then was carefully restored including a new teak deck, full repaint and various other including extensive mechanical works by professional boat builders at great expense to ensure that she was structurally and mechanically sound and in Concourse condition.
The pictures included with this Specification show details of the refit along with current images showing her condition now. She is offered for sale by owners who understand her restored value however also accept that quite a bit of elbow grease is needed to get her back in to her perfect 2012 condition.
Prior to her 2012 /13 refit when Bill Dunlop the renowned Fairey surveyor and former employee of the Fairey Marine factory surveyed her in September 2011 he reported that
“`Brig-Y-Don’, ex ‘Toros’, is now some thirty-nine years of age and has the stiffened hull with the Mark II air intakes. Below decks she is a complete time warp, being virtually original except for the fit out of the heads and slight modifications to the galley. She has obviously been very well maintained and not abused, therefore showing very few areas requiring attention.”

Viewing highly recommended by future “custodians” of this once in a lifetime opportunity to own a sound Fairey Huntsman.

A beautiful example of this timeless classic. She is probably one of the finest Fairey Super Swordsmans on the market today. 2008 survey av
s carried out. A full set of photographs are available on request.
Fairey Swordsmans
The Swordsman was the largest of the production boats built by Fairey Marine. Initially 33′ long and with a beam of 10′, they came in either an aft cabin or open cockpit version.
The Fairey Owners’ Club
Although Fairey boats were built in the ’50s until the early ’80s, it was not until 1986 that the Fairey Owners Club was founded. Their basic idea, which remains the principal objective of the club, is to preserve the marque.
In its present form the Club organises rallies and events throughout the year, at which there is an easy exchange of information. It also has extensive archive information, which is constantly being added to.
Membership is currently more than 200 and is growing steadily. Although a large percentage of members are based on the South Coast of Britain, there are many in other parts of the UK, including Northern Ireland. There are also members as far afield as Holland, Corfu, Norway and the Maldives.
