This Carius 50 is powered by a General Motors DDA3-53 85hp diesel engine which was fully rebuilt in 2012, with a stainless steel shaft including coupler and dripless shaft seal also new in 2012.
Her Berg Warner velvet drive gearbox was also fully rebuilt in 2012. Steering is provided by a Wagner two station hydraulic steering, there is also an emergency rudder.
‘Charlotte’ also features a Northern Lights generator.
The standing rigging on this Carius 50 was replaced in 2005. Her main and mizzen masts are of laminated spruce and her standing rigging is all galvinised steel except for the stainless steel forestay made to accommodate the Harken II furling head sail.
Her sail wardrobe consists of main sail, genoa, jib, mizzen, and stay sail.
Deck gear on this Carius 50 includes 3x Barlow 18 winches, Barlow 10 winch and 2x Lewmar 43 two-speed winches.
This Carius 50 provides two large double cabins including a spacious master stateroom aft. Forward is a further double guest cabin and large bathroom with separate shower compartment.
The large saloon and dining area features a U-shaped sofa to port and a dining table to starboard.
The galley is found further aft and is equipped with a Force 10 3-burner gas cooker with oven (2011), 110/12v refrigerator and 110v/heat exchanger water heater.
There is also heating on board provided by a Dickenson Newport electric heater.
This Carius 50 features a 12v alternator, generator and 30amp Hubble shore power electrical supplies. She also has 4x 6v house batteries and a 4-D lead acid starter battery. Her wiring is all plastic coated and in good condition with a fuse panel and breaker panel. ‘Charlotte’ also has a good inventory of navigation instruments.
