The Sparkman and Stevens (S&S) designed Hylas 47 started life as the Stevens 47, manufactured by Queen Long.

After Bill Stevens decided to quit, he no longer marketed the Stevens 47.

It was then that Queen Long changed the name of the 47 to Hylas and increased the line to include the Hylas 42 and 44.

The Hylas 47 is a center cockpit design and is the only Hylas that has an encapsulated keel. It came as a sloop and/or cutter, which was optional. QL built a total of 80 Stevens and Hylas 47’s, with more than fifty of these Hylas.
