This Van De Stadt 55 was built by Sommervelds boatyard, Germany in 1970 for Cees Bruynzeel to take part in the original Cape Town to Rio race where he took both line and overall handicap honours.
She benefits from a major 2014 – 2015 refit including, but not limited to:
- New decks and laminated deck beams
- Replaced steering back to new bronze quadrant, turning blocks and pedestal, including new compass. Quadrant custom made by Edson
- Removed and laminated new mahogany floors and new steel floor caps galvanised
- Rebuilt anchor windlass
- New solar panels
- New transom
- New aft cockpit floors
- New upholstery
- All new paint, including decks, hull, rig, coamings and cockpits
- New running rigging
- New AB hypalon / alloy 2.5m dinghy
- New Yamaha 15hp outboard
- New nav lights
