History was made on Friday at Lürssen Yachts with the launch of the worlds largest private yacht to date. The 180 meter (590 feet) yacht, which will be longer than some cruise ships when it is completed, is know as Project Azzam and is powered by water jets with a top speed of over 30 knots. The large yacht also has a shallow draft for her size, allowing her to venture into places other large yachts can’t.

Lürssen Yachts the German shipbuilding company based in Bremen-Vegesack have justifiably been super-secretive about this project and the owner has not yet been revealed, but some say it’s been commissioned by Saudi Royals. This yacht will be around 54ft (17.5m) longer than Eclipse, which is Chelsea-owning oligarch Roman Abramovich’s current flagship vessel.
