Sam Davies’ new adventure

Celebrated sailor, Sam Davies is to embark on a new project in 2012, following her recent appearance at a showcase of British Excellence at the Ambassador’s residence in Paris. Sam will undertake an ambitious four year project, including participation in the Vendee Globe 2012 as well as the greatest solo ocean races of the IMOCA World Championship.

A new period of adventure for Sam Davies

A new period of adventure for Sam Davies

Sam said: “The 95 days, 4 hours and 39 minutes I spent racing alone around the world have confirmed my desire to play a leading role in ocean racing and especially in the 2012 Vendee Globe. The best way to achieve this ambitious goal is to build a brand new boat, specially designed for my size and way of sailing, and to which I have given much thought during my last races.”

Finishing fourth in last year’s Vendee Globe in a self proclaimed “old boat” and with the smallest of budgets, Sam is excited about what she could achieve with some top level equipment. The amount of media coverage surrounding Sam’s success has been outstanding, and the industry is keeping an eye out to see what may be in 2012.
