Sexy looking X-Yachts IMX-38 with the promise of plenty of boat speed for sale on the north coast of France
A very popular racing design from the early ‘90s with great cruising comfort for short-handed sailing.
The IMX-38 is a wonderful, sexy-looking boat with sweeping lines and the promise of plenty of boat speed, the IMX 38 was developed and launched in 1993.
Her pedigree as an offshore racer is well established and she was chosen as the offshore racer of the year in 1996. She has not been raced in recent years, but all the go fast potential is still onboard!
The big surprise for a racing boat is her touring capabilities. Although she is best raced with a crew of 6 up to 8, she can also be easily sailed by two people. The rigging with its slightly back swept three spreader configuration is forgiving and the mast mounted directly onto the keel with the typical X-yacht steel frame, forms an incredibly stiff platform.
You wouldn’t expect luxurious accommodations from this type of boat, and the 38 won’t surprise you in that area. The layout is straightforward with a small galley forward and a large head that stretches across the boat. The photos show this interior to be beautifully detailed and artfully styled. It may not be plush, but it does look comfy.
In the stern a very large double always surprises first time viewers. The bow accommodates a regular sized double with toilet and a sink. It is possible to shower there, although experience says that using the shower outside is much nicer.
In the stern on the starboard side there is a very roomy single. There are also removable pipe beds very suitable for safe overnight passage-making.
The Volvo MD 2030 is a reliable, easy to maintain engine and probably one of the most common engines in this size of boat so maintenance is easily organised.
